Uganda

• Uganda is the size of Oregon with 27,000,000 people and is an English-speaking nation.
• The average income is about $250 per year.
• 85% of the population is Christian and 15% Muslim.
• It is a sub-Saharan country with an average elevation of around 4000'.
• There is dense jungle surrounded by many farms.
• The initial Pilot project taught 70 people how to solar cook, how to make solar cookers, and how to pasteurize water in 2004.
• Women make up 80% of the student base.
• Our new project starts in September of 2006 and will train 100 women and men to solar cook.

• Armenia is the size of California
• Forests and woodlands have decreased from 45% to 8% of the total land mass. Now dung, plastic, cardboard and fuel filters are used for fuel because of the lack of trees.
• It is a mountainous country with 3 million people who depend on citizens who live outside the country to support their needs
• It is open to Georgia to the North and Iran to the East. The country does not have an open border with Turkey.
• There is 45% unemployment. The infrastructure and the economy of the country have not recovered from the separation with the Soviet Republic in 1991.
• The country has suffered numerous devastating earthquakes.
• The integrated Solar Cooking technology is being introduced through the Peace Corps Volunteer program as a Pilot Program.

• Mexico has been over- harvesting mesquite for fuel.
• The Integrated cooker program in Mexico is supported by health, agricultural extension workers, and secondary schools.
• Approximately 3000 women have been trained to teach others about Integrated solar cooking
• Completing 2 projects with a third project started by a women's Rotary Club
• About 1200 families are currently benefiting from the Integrated Solar Cooking projects.
